What our analysis found

McAfee® Web Boost, used by 1,000,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can inject scripts into pages and can observe network requests. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in July 2026.

The extension's code consistently implements its advertised purpose of blocking auto-playing videos. Outbound network requests go exclusively to McAfee-owned domains (,) or through the native messaging host, all first-party destinations. The telemetry collected (interaction types, domain names for whitelist, video pause events) is basic product analytics and does not include sensitive personal data. The broad permissions are required for media interception and content script injection. The publisher is a trusted cybersecurity vendor with a clean track record, and the ML risk score of 0.00 supports the benign assessment.
