What our analysis found
Application Launcher For Drive (by Google), used by 98,000,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in June 2024.
The extension's entire business logic is a tightly scoped native-messaging proxy (:1149-1172) that validates the connecting host must be exactly `com.google.drive.nativeproxy` and relays messages between Google Drive web pages and the Drive for Desktop native application — precisely matching the stated product description. No network requests to external URLs, no data collection code, and no code injection are present. All corroborating signals agree: ML score of 0.04, chrome-stats marks the publisher as trusted, permhash cluster is clean (0% malware), and the publisher is verified Google. The `js_exclamation` count of 1050 is entirely explained by Google Closure Library's minification convention (`!0`/`!1` for `false`/`true`); the 77 JSON files are locale message files (`_locales/` for many languages) not included in the extract; `js_encoded_strings` map to Closure Library's base64 utility functions used for protobuf serialization.
