Its permissions mean it can read and change data on all websites, can inject scripts into pages and can observe network requests. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in September 2026.

McAfee WebAdvisor is a legitimate, well-established security extension from McAfee, LLC (Google trusted publisher, 148M users, 4.6★ rating). All network destinations in the manifest CSP are *. endpoints; the two non-McAfee fetches (,) retrieve public TLD lists for domain-classification purposes. The bundled manifest is byte-for-byte identical to the published CWS manifest — no permission mismatch. The ML score of 0.03 is itself low; our risk engine's 'Critical' rating is driven entirely by the permission set, which is exactly what a URL-checking, search-annotating, anti-tracker, phishing-blocker and AI-video-detector must have. No unauthorized data sinks, no remote code loading, no obfuscation beyond standard minification.
