What our analysis found
Image Editor, used by 10,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in July 2026.
Analyst notes
The extension declares zero permissions, making it technically incapable of accessing tabs, cookies, browsing history, or any page content. The core image-editing logic () is entirely local: file loading via FileReader API, processing via CamanJS canvas library, and download via a data-URI anchor — no user data leaves the device. The only outbound URLs are an install-welcome redirect ([domain withheld]) and an uninstall ping, both of which carry no user payload beyond the install event; this is a ubiquitous industry pattern. The ML score (0.39) was likely driven by the install-tracking pattern, high JSON file count (locale files), and overall file count rather than any harmful behavior. The third-party impact score of corroborates the benign assessment; the publisher's 11% malicious-extension rate is a weak signal given this extension's zero-permission footprint.
