In code review (v3.3.0)
Our reviewer read version 3.3.0 — the most recent version we have reviewed — and found no malicious behaviour. The version shown here has not been individually reviewed yet.
What our analysis found
iCloud Passwords, used by 7,000,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can read and change data on all websites and can inject scripts into pages. It comes from a publisher with 9 extensions and was last updated in September 2026.
The extension is a legitimate password manager (iCloud Passwords by Apple Inc.). All permissions (broad host access, nativeMessaging, privacy, scripting, etc.) are essential for its core functionality of integrating iCloud Keychain with Chrome. Communication with the native app is secured via SRP and AES-GCM, and no data is exfiltrated to third-party servers. The CWS-disclosed data collection (Personally identifiable information, Authentication information) matches the extension's credential-handling behavior. No obfuscation or malicious code patterns were found; the ML model's low risk score and Apple's strong publisher reputation (0% malicious extensions) corroborate a false positive from the risk engine.
