What our analysis found
Spider-Man Marvel Rivals Live Wallpaper showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in October 2025.
Analyst notes
The bundle is a plain new-tab wallpaper page: loads 12 local scripts that build a clock (:164), search box, shortcut tiles, and purely local widgets (calculator, todo, calendar, timer, sticky notes, Google-apps launcher, a ChatGPT deep-link). All three network calls are parameterless GETs to the publisher's own domain (:49 [domain withheld],:35 [domain withheld],:17 [domain withheld]); nothing is ever sent outbound, and there is no access to cookies, tabs, history, bookmarks, content scripts, or chrome.storage. The permhash cluster (33% malware on search+newtab) is the search-hijacker family, but this code contradicts that pattern::219 calls chrome.search.query({text}) with no override, so queries go to the user's own default engine. The malext-feed 'malware' label is unsupported by the code and its own note says it is not a code review; chrome-stats ( impact) and the trusted-publisher badge agree with benign, but are context only. I withhold false_positive for two reasons: is listed in and loaded at:17 but was not included in this bundle, so the largest JS file went unreviewed; and:35-51 fetches server-controlled HTML and assigns it with innerHTML on every new tab (innerHTML cannot run <script>, and MV3 script-src 'self' blocks inline handlers, so it is not remote code execution, but it is a live channel for arbitrary markup, and values are interpolated unescaped at:82-91, letting the server also choose where tiles point).:19-25 wiping IndexedDB touches only the extension's own origin, which is odd hygiene rather than harm.
