SecureConnect Reporting (Internal version), used by 600,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in February 2026.

The extension is a legitimate Google-internal device reporting tool for Workspace administrators. All network communication is restricted to (first-party), matching the publisher's domain. The data collected (OS type, version, serial number, etc.) is explicitly disclosed in the CWS description. Permissions like enterprise.deviceAttributes, nativeMessaging, and identity are standard for enterprise device management. The reviewed UI scripts show only normal log display, network sandboxing, and account management. No evidence of unauthorized data exfiltration or malicious code was found in the provided source files. The missing background service worker is a gap, but the trusted publisher (Google) and the extension's purpose align with the permissions and behavior.
