What our analysis found
Save to Pinterest, used by 6,000,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can read and change data on all websites. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in July 2026.
The extension is the official 'Save to Pinterest' published by. All network requests go to domains (,,) for saving pins, authentication, analytics, and header modification—fully consistent with its stated purpose. The CWS-disclosed data collection categories (personally identifiable information, user activity, website content) match the observed data flows. Broad permissions (cookies, declarativeNetRequest, host permissions) are necessary for cross-domain content scripts, cookie-based auth, and a benign declarativeNetRequest rule that adds a user tracking parameter. The code shows no unauthorized exfiltration, no obfuscation beyond normal minification, and no connection to untrusted third parties. The ML model's high risk flags are based on permission presence alone, not on actual malicious behavior.
