What our analysis found
Remove Floating Banners showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can inject scripts into pages. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in June 2024.
Analyst notes
The extension does exactly what its description claims: when the user clicks 'Remove banners', calls chrome.tabs.executeScript to inject into the active tab, which finds all positioned elements and sets them to static position. There is no network activity, no data collection, no remote code loading, and no obfuscation — only standard Svelte framework boilerplate and a trivial DOM manipulation script. The ML score of 0.24 and the permhash cluster's 21% malware rate are driven by the large, common {activeTab}-only permission set shared by 26K extensions; the chrome.tabs.executeScript call is the legitimate mechanism for a user-triggered content script injection in MV2. The third-party score ( impact, likelihood) and the Google trusted-publisher / featured-listing badges strongly corroborate a benign verdict.

About this extension
Removes the annoying floating / sticky banners that take up screen space as you scroll down a page.
Read the publisher’s full description
You know when you're on a web page and there are floating banners across the top and maybe even bottom of the window that stay there as you scroll? Tons of sites, especially news sites, have these useless banners. Those things are so annoying! They take up a bunch of the screen and make it hard or sometimes impossible to read an article! Gah! Why would sites add these?! This extension gets rid of those floating banners on the sites you specify. == How to use this extension == Click the extension icon and then click the "Remove banners" button. Floating / sticky / fixed banners on the site you're browsing will be moved to the top and bottom of the page. The page layout may be a little weird after you click the button. If it's too messed up, just refresh the page and please send me an email with the URL of the site and how it broke. Once your refresh the page or visit the site again you'll have to click the button again. Let me know in an email if you don't want to click every time and want your preferences saved. == Not working? == Please send me an email so I can support you instead of leaving a bad review! Bugs can be fixed but bad reviews are forever.
