What our analysis found

OpenClaw Browser Relay, used by 60,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a publisher with 2 extensions and was last updated in February 2026.

Analyst notes

The extension is a legitimate Chrome DevTools Protocol relay for AI automation (OpenClaw). All network communication is limited to localhost () as declared in host_permissions, and the debugger permission is used exactly for its documented purpose. No data exfiltration, tracking, or unauthorized code injection was found. The ML model’s low risk score (0.00) and clean permhash cluster (0% flagged) support a benign assessment. The only discrepancy is that the published manifest summary omits 'alarms' and 'webNavigation', but these permissions are transparently used for keepalive and navigation badge updates – a listing oversight, not malice.

About this extension

Attach OpenClaw (MoltBot & ClawdBot) to your existing Chrome tab via a local CDP relay server.

Read the publisher’s full description

This extension enables OpenClaw (MoltBot & ClawdBot) to control your current Chrome tab via a secure local CDP relay, unlocking browser automation features like clicking, typing, navigation, and form interaction—directly from your AI assistant. **I'm an independent developer and OpenClaw user**. I noticed many people were struggling to install the Chrome extension required for browser control, since it isn’t officially published in any extension store. To make things easier for the community, I unpacked the existing relay extension bundled in the OpenClaw official package and published it here, unmodified, so users can install it directly with one click. No changes were made. This is the exact same extension as provided by OpenClaw internally—just repackaged for convenience. You’re welcome to inspect the source code to verify. All relay operations happen over a local WebSocket and nothing is sent externally.
