What our analysis found
Megumi Fushiguro Wallpapers New Tab Jujutsu Kaisen Gameograf, used by 1,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in June 2025.
Analyst notes
This is an ordinary new-tab wallpaper page: background chooser (), clock (), sticky notes (), user-defined shortcuts () and a top-sites menu (), all persisted only through chrome.storage.local and document.cookie. There is not a single in any first-party file, so topSites data retrieved in:52-57 is rendered locally and never leaves the browser; search submits to [domain withheld] ( ~line 212), so there is no search hijack. The ML signals are explained by three unreferenced fragments (,, — grep shows nothing in the repo loads them), which contribute the XHR, atob and createElement('script') counts as dead code; this contradicts the 0.88 score, while the chrome-stats rating and the 1% publisher malicious rate corroborate benignity and the 12% permhash cluster is diluted by the huge (1743) generic newtab cluster. Caveats, none of which rise to findings: and the bundled libraries referenced by are absent from this bundle and therefore unreviewed; Bootstrap popovers are configured with sanitize:!1 and:8-12 concatenates topSites titles into an HTML string (self-XSS hygiene only, extension-page scope); and the live CWS manifest differs from this ZIP (drops topSites, adds search plus first-party host_permissions [domain withheld]), so this verdict covers v1.3.4 as bundled only.
