What our analysis found

Incredible StartPage - Productive Start Page, used by 50,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in May 2024.

Analyst notes

The extension is a long-standing, well-reviewed start page replacement with extensive bookmark and tab management features. All permissions are required for declared functionality (management for app, tabs for recently closed tracking, unlimitedStorage for wallpapers). Network calls are limited to Flickr API for user-selected backgrounds (disclosed in the description and the options page notice). No data exfiltration or tracking observed; all stored data (notes, settings) remain local or synced via Chrome Sync. Minor code patterns (jscolor eval, bookmark javascript: URLs) are legacy techniques, not malicious. The ML model's low risk score (0.01) aligns with our conclusion; the risk engine findings are over-weighting common benign patterns.
