What our analysis found
Incognito This Tab for Google Chrome™, used by 90,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in March 2022.
Analyst notes
The extension performs exactly as described: it opens the current tab in an incognito window via chrome.windows.create. The code is minimal, uses only required permissions (activeTab, contextMenus), and makes no network requests except to first-party URLs on the publisher's homepage. There is no data collection, tracking, or obfuscation. The ML model likely over-fit on low JS size, manifest version, and file count. A manifest version mismatch (live listing shows MV3, bundled is MV2) is a hygiene issue but not malicious.
