I Hear You Twitch showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in November 2024.
Analyst notes
Every JavaScript file in this extension performs exactly what the CWS description promises: manages an badge toggle per tab via message-passing, and attaches a MutationObserver to chat DOM nodes and plays a bundled MP3 (chrome.runtime.getURL('new_message.mp3')) when new chat messages appear. There are zero outbound network requests, zero data reads from the page beyond checking CSS class names for chat-line detection, and zero external data destinations. The ML score of 0.45 is a false positive driven entirely by content-script injection into [domain withheld] pages, which is the extension's sole stated function. The manifest version difference (MV2 in bundled 1.2.2 vs MV3 in live listing) is explained by the changelog showing the publisher later released v1.3.0+ with MV3 support — not a suspicious divergence.
