GoingMed is a legitimate academic tool for Chinese researchers that fetches PubMed journal impact factors from [domain withheld] (the publisher's own platform) and injects them into PubMed, Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, and PubPeer pages. All network destinations are either the publisher's own domains ([domain withheld], [domain withheld], [domain withheld]) or well-known academic APIs ([domain withheld], [domain withheld]). One manifest discrepancy exists — the bundled manifest omits the `tabs` permission that the published CWS listing shows — but it goes in the safer direction (bundled is less permissive), likely reflecting a recent version that dropped the permission; this does not constitute a risk escalation. The ML score is a false positive driven by install-telemetry POST requests to the publisher's own backend and minified jQuery inflating pattern counts; the publisher holds a Google trusted badge, malicious sibling extensions, and the chrome-stats likelihood score is
