Free Download Manager, used by 3,000,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can read and change data on all websites, can inject scripts into pages and can observe network requests. It was last updated in July 2026.

The extension is a legitimate download manager integration. All permissions are necessary for its core functionality: intercepting downloads, reading cookies to pass to the native host, using to manage downloads, and scripting for context menu extraction. No data is exfiltrated to remote servers; communication occurs only locally via native messaging to the installed Free Download Manager application. The code contains no obfuscation, remote code execution, or tracking. User reviews and publisher reputation support a benign verdict.
