Analyst notes
The extension is a thin first-party AI-chat wrapper: the action button opens its own bundled page (:3-7), the page POSTs only the user's typed prompt to the publisher's own endpoint [domain withheld] (:279, 307-317), and chat history is kept in chrome.storage.sync (:82, 371). Its sole permission is `storage`, with no host_permissions, no content scripts, no APIs, and the bundled manifest matches the published CWS manifest exactly; grep found no strings, and all code is unminified and readable. The MalExt IoC note (a DTI 'AI slop' deceptive-listing study) and the 'publisher flagged malicious' aggregate are contradicted by the code, while chrome-stats (impact, likelihood) and our own risk engine (Low) agree with it; what the code does corroborate is deceptive *listing* behaviour rather than malicious capability, namely DeepSeek branding over a non-DeepSeek backend, review gating in:32-36 that routes 1-3 star clicks to [domain withheld] and only 4-5 star clicks to the CWS review page, and a disclosure gap where prompts are sent to the publisher despite 'none declared' data collection. Hygiene note, not a finding: the streamed server response is rendered via jQuery.html() at:354, so the backend controls the rendered markup of the extension's own page, but with no manifest CSP override the MV3 default script-src 'self' still blocks script execution (the page's meta CSP can only add restrictions, never loosen them), and the page is the extension's own, not a host page.
