Bulk Image Convert, used by 9,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in September 2022.
The extension has zero declared permissions (confirmed in both bundled and published manifest) and performs all image conversion locally using the HTML Canvas API โ no network requests are made to process or transmit image data. The ML signals (js_innerhtml, js_appendchild, js_createelement_script) trace directly to benign popup UI code: innerHTML is used only for localization string insertion in the extension's own popup, appendScript loads only extension-local scripts, and the 43 JSON files are i18n locale message files. The third-party risk score of impact corroborates the benign verdict; the 33% malicious publisher rate is a concern worth noting but does not override the absence of any attack surface in this specific extension.
