What our analysis found
Allow Copy & Enable Right Click - Text Unlock, used by 9,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can inject scripts into pages. It was last updated in August 2026.
Analyst notes
All four files implement exactly what the extension claims: injecting a CSS rule to re-enable text selection and overriding DOM event handlers (contextmenu, selectstart, copy, etc.) that sites use to block copying. There is zero network egress, no remote resource loading, no data collection, no code, and no obfuscation. The 'uses_scripting_execute_script_dynamic' ML hit maps to re-injecting the same local file for the 'Force Absolute Mode' feature, not to dynamic remote code. The permhash cluster (2% malware rate on 109 peers) and third-party scores reflect the broad host_permissions inherent to any copy-unlocker, not actual malicious behaviour. The ML score of 0.19 is a straightforward false positive driven by the `scripting` permission combined with broad host_permissions, both of which are functionally required for this category of extension.
