Analyst notes
The extension is a minimal launcher that opens the publisher's own website ([domain withheld]) on first install as a welcome tab, then does nothing else — no permissions are declared in the bundled manifest, no sensitive APIs are accessed, and no data is transmitted anywhere. The ML score of 0.52 was almost certainly inflated by the small total JS size (13 KB), the welcome-tab URL open pattern that superficially resembles a redirect, and a single innerHTML call confined to the extension's own background page. Chrome-stats corroborates benignity: Impact=, with likelihood concerns limited to low user count and poor ratings — neither of which indicates malice. The one genuine discrepancy (bundled MV2 with no permissions vs. live CWS listing showing MV3 + storage) is consistent with a staged CWS update rather than anything covert.
