What our analysis found
Text Zoom & Reader — enlarge text, hide images, used by 70,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can read and change data on all websites and can inject scripts into pages. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in March 2026.
Analyst notes
The extension's code only performs text zooming, image hiding, and reader mode overlay. It uses chrome.storage.local to save user settings and chrome.scripting.executeScript to modify page appearance. No network requests are made to any external server, no data is collected or exfiltrated, and no obfuscation or suspicious patterns are present. The broad permissions (<all_urls>, scripting) are necessary for the extension's core accessibility features. The ML model's flags are due to typical patterns in libraries like jQuery and the heavy script injection, which aligns with the extension's stated purpose.
