What our analysis found
Talk & Comment - Voice notes anywhere, used by 100,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in October 2026.
Talk & Comment is a legitimate voice-note extension for All permissions are used for declared features (clipboardWrite for copying share links, offscreen for audio recording, for opening, notifications for upload feedback, alarms for periodic tasks, declarativeNetRequest likely for service-worker functionality). Analytics to Sentry and PostHog are standard and disclosed in the privacy policy. Content scripts inject a UI and audio player – typical for this category. No evidence of unauthorized data exfiltration or code injection beyond the extension's own UI. The ML risk score (0.00) and third-party risk scores already reflect low risk. The only concern is a mismatch between the published CWS manifest (lists activeTab, fewer permissions) and the bundled manifest (tabs, windows, notifications, declarativeNetRequest, alarms), but this appears to be an oversight rather than malicious intent.
