Analyst notes
This is a genuine new-tab extension: every outbound call is a GET to first-party [domain withheld] (:49,:35,:17 WordPress news feed) carrying no user data, search is delegated to the user's own default engine via chrome.search.query (:219) with no hijack, there are no content scripts, no reads, no obfuscation, and is byte-identical (verified_contents Merkle root) to the upstream [domain withheld] 3.7.1 release while all 11 audited JS files are token-identical to the signed CRX at /[domain withheld]. The residual risk that keeps this off `false_positive` is a remotely-controlled content channel::51 assigns server-supplied `html` straight to innerHTML on the new-tab page (the dev's own Turkish comment at line 50 reads "you must make sure this is trusted content") and:82-86 builds shortcut anchors from server-supplied — MV3's default script-src 'self' blocks script execution so this is not remote code loading, but the publisher can swap in arbitrary links, iframes or forms post-review, and both endpoints sit behind a Cloudflare challenge so the live payload could not be inspected. Corroborating benign: chrome-stats impact, the bundled manifest matching the published manifest exactly (search + [domain withheld] only), and the Google trusted-publisher badge; contradicting: the malext-feed "malware" label whose own basis text admits it is not a code review and supplies no affected version, the permhash cluster that is 33% flagged, and a 1,388-extension template-farm publisher whose scale makes the remote-content channel worth monitoring.
