All 1,387 bytes of JavaScript were read: registers a context-menu search item, sets an uninstall URL, and installs a webRequest listener whose filter is restricted to main_frame requests on the extension's own domain (:30-32), where it only appends a random install-session parameter and redirects to the same URL; generates that 32-character random ID and reports it once to first-party [domain withheld]. The search-default change is declared in manifest chrome_settings_overrides and is exactly what the CWS listing describes, so the ML critical score, the risk-engine Critical rating and the chrome-stats permission-override reason all key off the pair without accounting for the single-domain URL filter, while the publisher trusted badge and the clean single-member permhash cluster corroborate benignity. Two caveats keep this at likely_benign rather than false_positive: the bundled manifest is MV2 (contextMenus, webRequest, webRequestBlocking, [domain withheld]) while the live listing is MV3 (storage, declarativeNetRequest, *://[domain withheld]), a mismatch that moves toward less privilege (blocking webRequest replaced by DNR, contextMenus dropped, same single first-party host with only the scheme widened) rather than toward a delayed-malicious update, and this review covers only the 1.0.3 bundle, not that live MV3 code; separately, info.selectionText is interpolated into the search URL without encodeURIComponent at:6, which is a hygiene defect and not a security finding.
