What our analysis found

Microsoft Bing Homepage & Search for Chrome, used by 4,000,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can inject scripts into pages. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in July 2024.

The extension is a legitimate Microsoft Bing extension. Telemetry data is sent only to Microsoft-owned domains (,) and aligns with the extension's purpose of providing Bing search and homepage customization. No stealthy data exfiltration to third parties was found. The manifest version mismatch (bundled MV2 vs published MV3) is likely due to a store update and does not indicate malice. The permissions are necessary for search engine redirection and cookie management.
