Analyst notes
The bundle is a small, unminified new-tab wallpaper page ( clock, shortcuts, file-picker background; footer links) with no content scripts, no APIs, and no outbound POST of any kind — every network call is a GET of static JSON from the declared host [domain withheld], which matches the author ([domain withheld]) and the support email. Search is not hijacked::166-175 routes the query through chrome.search.query (the user's own default engine), which is the decisive contradiction of the permhash cluster signal (11,189 peers sharing search + one API host, 33% flagged), whose usual abuse is redirecting queries to a publisher endpoint. The one real capability concern is:41-54, which assigns publisher-served HTML to popupContainer.innerHTML on the new-tab page — under the MV3 default CSP (no content_security_policy key in the manifest) that HTML cannot execute script, so it is an channel rather than remote code loading, but it does let the publisher push arbitrary display content post-review; likewise:21-30 overwrites the user's saved shortcuts with a server-supplied list. Confidence is medium rather than high only because is listed in (18 files total, accounting for the ~87 KB gap versus the 96,422-byte ML figure) but was not included in the bundle, so that one file is unreviewed; the bundled manifest matches the published CWS manifest exactly, and the prior 'malware' label is an unreviewed external feed import that the code does not corroborate.
