Key findings
- Medium
Other
The bundled manifest version is 2, but the CWS listing shows manifest_version 3. Also, the published manifest includes 'system.display' permission and 'externally_connectable' which are absent in the bundled file. This suggests the extension may have a different set of permissions or features than what is present in this source.
Analyst notes
The extension is a dictionary lookup tool that sends word queries to its own API ([domain withheld]) and uses Google Analytics. No personal data exfiltration or unauthorized data collection beyond standard analytics. The ML flags are from normal DOM manipulation and XHR usage for its function. The manifest version mismatch suggests the bundled code may not match the current store version, but the stored permissions are minimal and legitimate.
