What our analysis found

HTML to Figma – Capture Any Website as Editable Layers, used by 2,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can read and change data on all websites and can inject scripts into pages. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in September 2026.

Analyst notes

The extension does precisely what its listing claims: it injects a DOM serializer into the active tab, emulates viewport dimensions via the debugger API (Emulation.setDeviceMetricsOverride only —:108-138), encodes the page structure as base64 in a clipboard payload, and writes it to the user's clipboard via an offscreen document (:1-47) for manual paste into Figma Desktop. All data flows are local (IndexedDB → clipboard) or first-party ( to [domain withheld] — the publisher's own [domain withheld] backend). No page content is exfiltrated to any external server. The third-party risk score's high-impact flags all reduce to the debugger and host-permission grants, both of which are fully explained by the feature set and match the disclosed CWS data-collection categories (Authentication information, Website content, Personally identifiable information).
