Epson iProjection Extension, used by 100,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can inject scripts into pages. It comes from a publisher with 4 extensions and was last updated in October 2025.
The extension is a legitimate screen mirroring tool for Epson projectors on ChromeOS. All network communication is directed to a local private IP () used for communication with the companion Android app. No data is exfiltrated to external servers. The scripting permission is used only to set up the mirroring session. The 'GA' analytics messages are sent only to the local Android app for internal diagnostics, not to third parties. The ML model likely overreacted to the private IP access and scripting permission.
