Analyst notes
Console Importer is a legitimate developer tool that exposes a `$i`/`console.$i` helper for loading npm packages (via [domain withheld] or [domain withheld]) directly from the Chrome DevTools console. The ML model was triggered by `createElement('script')` and `appendChild` calls in and, but these are the extension's entire stated purpose: injecting user-requested resources into pages on demand. No data is exfiltrated, no credentials are accessed, and the only outbound network calls are to [domain withheld] (package lookup) and [domain withheld] (package delivery), both well-known public CDNs appropriate for this extension's category. The publisher holds a Google Trusted Publisher badge, the extension is open-source with a public GitHub repository linked in the listing, and the empty permissions array confirms it has no access to cookies, browsing history, or other sensitive APIs. Third-party risk score () and publisher reputation independently corroborate benignity; the bundled manifest being MV2 while the live listing shows MV3 simply reflects the extension's age (version 1.4.0, ~4 years old) rather than any deceptive behaviour.
