What our analysis found
Web Audio Chrome MP3 Recorder Extension showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It was last updated in June 2026.
Analyst notes
All network traffic originates from clearly-scoped auth, recording-upload, control, and analytics flows — every POST goes to [domain withheld], the publisher's own Supabase backend. The extension has an explicit multi-step consent gate (privacy policy, participant notice, age confirmation, AI-training) before any audio is uploaded, which is documented in both the bundled and the CWS-disclosed data-collection categories (PII, Auth info, User activity). The third-party risk score flags only low-impact signals (newness, low user count) and no code behaviour; the permhash cluster has 0 malware peers. ML triggers (7 POSTs, 1 encoded string, large JS size) all map to legitimate Supabase client operations and the bundled lamejs MP3 encoder library.
