What our analysis found
User Agent Switcher for Google Chrome™, used by 3,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can read and change data on all websites. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in September 2022.
Analyst notes
All code is consistent with a legitimate user-agent switcher tool. The uses declarativeNetRequest solely to set the User-Agent request header to a value the user explicitly chose via the popup UI. The injects (a web-accessible resource declared in the manifest) only to override navigator.userAgent with the same user-supplied string — the standard two-layer UA spoofing pattern for MV3. No outbound network calls, no data collection, no remote code loading, and no obfuscation beyond normal TypeScript compilation artifacts. The ML score of 0.00 corroborates this; our risk-engine's 'High' rating and the permhash cluster's 11% malware rate are driven purely by the broad permissions that are functionally necessary for any UA switcher, not by malicious behavior in the code.
