What our analysis found
Tripadvisor: Travel Reviews & Deals on Hotels, Restaurants…, used by 70,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can observe network requests. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in August 2026.
The extension is the official Tripadvisor browser button. All network requests go to first-party Tripadvisor API endpoints () and a known partner (charity widget). The permissions (webRequest, webNavigation) are necessary for the overlay and price-watch features. Data collection is consistent with CWS disclosures ('Web history, User activity, Website content') and privacy policy. No credential theft, remote code injection, or covert exfiltration found. The ML high-risk flags are due to broad permissions and large code size from third-party libraries, not malicious behavior.
