What our analysis found
Squarespace ID Finder, used by 100,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can read and change data on all websites and can inject scripts into pages. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in July 2026.
Analyst notes
The extension is a legitimate developer tool for Squarespace ID inspection. It uses activeTab and clipboardWrite permissions strictly for its declared purpose, performs no network requests, and injects only UI scripts into Squarespace sites. The ML model's patterns (innerHTML, appendChild, executeScript) are expected for a DOM-manipulating extension. The published manifest shows a newer version with broader permissions, but the analyzed source code is benign. The mismatch is noted but does not indicate malice in this code version.
