The extension is the official Shazam browser extension for music identification. It uses tabCapture to capture audio from a browser tab (a core requirement for its functionality), processes it in a WebAssembly module to compute a fingerprint, and communicates with the Shazam backend (first-party, disclosed). The permissions (tabs, tabCapture, storage, unlimitedStorage) and wasm-unsafe-eval CSP are all necessary for audio capture, fingerprint computation, and local storage. No network requests to third-party domains, no data exfiltration, no code injection beyond the declared content script (restricted to [domain withheld]). The code is clean and matches the publisher's disclosed behavior. The ML model likely confused standard Wasm bootstrap code and permission usage as malicious signals.
