The extension does exactly what it advertises: it injects (a bundled local script) into Stack Exchange Chat room tabs to render The only fires on tabs matching '*://[domain withheld]', which matches the declared host_permissions. loads MathJax from [domain withheld] (a trusted public CDN, listed in web_accessible_resources) and adds a UI control panel to the chat — no data exfiltration, no tracking, no obfuscation, no external endpoints. The ML score was driven by generic scripting+tabs permissions and the pattern used to load MathJax, which are both inherent to this extension's legitimate purpose.

This extension allows Chrome to incorporate MathJax on any Stack Exchange Chat tabs. MathJax is a utility which performs typesetting on formatted LaTeX content. Users can freely create and share Math expressions and equations, as well as Chemical Molecular formulas and expressions using the included mhchem extension for MathJax. LaTeX is the standard for typesetting in many disciplines including, but not limited to, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. It is widely used in academics for typesetting papers as well as individual expressions or equations.
