Screen Capture & Editor - Full Page Screenshot, used by 60,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can inject scripts into pages. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in October 2026.
Analyst notes
Every bundled file implements exactly the advertised screenshot-and-edit flow: triggers capture,:97-210 scroll-steps the tab with chrome.scripting and chrome.tabs.captureVisibleTab, stitches the frames on a canvas, and crops, draws, and saves locally. There is no exfiltration path at all: the only fetch (:170) converts the extension's own data: URI to a Blob for the clipboard, and the only external URLs are the pages at [domain withheld] (:3,9), the publisher's own domain. Signals contradicting the ML score: publisher malicious, chrome-stats Impact with likelihood reasons that are purely heuristics, and a bundled manifest byte-identical in permissions to the published one; the malext-feed 'malware' note explicitly states its basis is an unverified third-party import with no affected version, so it corroborates nothing about v1.5. Hygiene only, not findings: onInstalled has no reason check so it opens a marketing tab on every update; the CWS listing's privacy policy points at [domain withheld] while the publisher-level one is [domain withheld]; captured screenshots persist in chrome.storage.local and are never cleared. Not 'false_positive' solely because was absent from the extracted bundle and runs in the editor's origin alongside the stored screenshot.
