In code review (v4.89.2)

Our reviewer read version 4.89.2 — the most recent version we have reviewed — and found no malicious behaviour. The version shown here has not been individually reviewed yet.

What our analysis found

PhotoShow, used by 100,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can read and change data on all websites, can inject scripts into pages and can observe network requests. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in October 2026.

The extension is a legitimate image zoom tool (PhotoShow) that extracts high-resolution images from websites. It uses broad permissions (host, webRequest, scripting) necessarily for its core functionality. All network requests in the provided code are to the same origin as the page being viewed or to well-known image APIs (e.g., Flickr, iStock) to retrieve larger versions. The CWS-disclosed data collection (Location, Web history, Website content) is consistent with scanning page content for images. There is no evidence of data exfiltration to third-party servers or malicious behavior. The ML model likely flagged the extension due to the large number of site-specific JS files, high XHR counts, and broad permissions, which are typical for an Imagus-style tool. The permhash cluster is small (28) with 0% flagged as malware, contradicting the risk-engine score.
