Analyst notes
Read every file in the bundle: this is an ordinary new-tab wallpaper page (clock, 5 bundled JPEGs, sticky notes in localStorage, shortcut tiles) with no search hijack (:93 calls chrome.search.query, i.e. the user's own default engine), no content scripts, no privileges, and no outbound call that carries any user data — the only two network calls (:10,:41) are first-party GETs to [domain withheld], the author's own domain and the sole entry in host_permissions, and the bundled manifest matches the published CWS manifest exactly. The ML score of 0.79, the 33%-malicious permhash cluster and the malext-feed note (which states on its face it is 'not an independent code review') are all contradicted by the code; chrome-stats and the trusted-publisher badge agree with what I read. Confidence is medium rather than high for two reasons stated as hygiene, not findings: is referenced by:17 and is in the signed file list but was not included in this extraction bundle (its 87,291-byte gap from total_js_size_bytes matches stock jQuery 3.7.1, consistent with an unmodified copy but unverified), and:54 assigns remotely-fetched HTML from [domain withheld] into the new-tab DOM — allowed under MV3 (remote HTML is not remote code, and the default CSP with no manifest override blocks injected script and javascript: URIs), harmless with only the 'search' permission, but it is a publisher-controlled content channel that could later render an overlay without a store review.
