MozBar, used by 1,000,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in September 2026.
The extension is the official MozBar SEO toolbar by Moz. All network requests (POST to) are first-party, fetching SEO metrics as disclosed by the category. Authentication uses Moz cookies (mozauth) and the background script legitimately reads them to maintain session. Optional webRequest permission tracks redirects for SEO analysis, not interception. Content scripts inject SERP overlays and toolbar on search pages and all sites, consistent with the tool's purpose. Minified JavaScript (React, WXT, Tailwind) accounts for regex pattern counts flagged by the ML model. No data is sent to unrelated third parties, no code injection outside declared host permissions, and no credential theft or obfuscation beyond normal bundling.
