I read 100% of the extension's code (7.5 KB across 5 JS files plus): it is a popup search widget that sends a user-typed query to [domain withheld]... with an optional `+site:[domain withheld] OR site:[domain withheld] OR site:[domain withheld]` suffix (:21-31,:15-18) — exactly the Yahoo search behaviour the CWS listing discloses. There is no content script, no chrome_settings_overrides search hijack, no all-urls host permission, and the `cookies` API is called only with `url: config.homeUrl` (:24-26, 42-55), which combined with host_permissions limited to [domain withheld] makes cross-site session-cookie theft impossible, contradicting the risk-engine's High rating for `cookies`. Signals that contradict the ML score: publisher is malicious, email VALID, all network destinations are the publisher's own domain, and no obfuscation exists. Signals I judged and dismissed: (a) the published-manifest summary lists identical `permissions` (cookies, storage) and a malformed single host pattern `*://*//[domain withheld] that is plainly a collapsed rendering of the two bundled [domain withheld] patterns, not an expansion of scope, so there is no real bundled-vs-published mismatch; (b) chrome-stats cites `permission-all-sites` and `permission-omnibox` and "updated >6 months ago" while this manifest has neither permission and shipped 3 days ago, so that vendor is scoring a different, older version — consistent with:51-123 (`search`, `showSuggests`, `setDefaultSuggestion`, `highlightResult`) being unreachable dead code with no caller, and `chrome.omnibox` being undefined absent an `omnibox` manifest key, so that dormant HTTP suggest-proxy to [domain withheld] cannot be switched on without a new manifest and a fresh CWS review; (c) the permhash cluster is 25% malware, but the clustered permission set is just cookies+storage, shared by 3321 versions, so it carries little discriminative weight. The reason this is `likely_benign` rather than `false_positive` is a genuine gap, not malice: `syncCookiesAndStorage` (:73-92) plants a persistent pseudonymous install identifier (`ap` partner ID 1724232873423685, a `r` UUIDv4, and `t` install month) as a 2-year cookie on `.[domain withheld]` and mirrors it into `chrome.storage.sync`, so the ID follows the user across devices and survives reinstall, while the CWS listing declares no data collection at all. The destination is first-party and the category is `tracking`, which is barred from findings under this verdict, so it is recorded here rather than as a finding; the extension is affiliate-attributed search monetization, which is disclosed in the listing body, not a covert exfiltration channel.
