All permissions (declarativeNetRequest, notifications, contextMenus, broad host permissions) support its core functionality: modifying user-agent for Google Translate to avoid being blocked, showing updates, providing context-menu translation, and injecting any page. Network requests go only to Google's translation APIs ([domain withheld], [domain withheld]) and the publisher's own backend ([domain withheld]), which is expected for an online translation service.
