What our analysis found

Custom Serenity Stream Background showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a publisher with 18 extensions and was last updated in August 2024.

Analyst notes

The extension is a straightforward new-tab replacement that displays a waterfall background, clock, date, weather widget, and links. The geolocation permission is used exclusively to fetch weather from [domain withheld] — a well-known, legitimate weather API — with no exfiltration of coordinates or any other data to unrelated third parties. The ML score of 0.95 is driven by superficial features (small file count, low user count, innerHTML usage for weather display) that are entirely consistent with a minimal hobby new-tab extension. The publisher reputation signal ( malicious peers) is the most concerning contextual signal, but code review finds zero malicious behaviour in this specific extension; the code is clean, readable, and its Vietnamese comments are consistent with an individual developer.
