What our analysis found
Coupert - Automatic Coupon Finder & Cash Back, used by 3,000,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Our code review reported 1 finding (1 high), led by other. Its permissions mean it can observe network requests.
Key findings
- high· other —The bundled includes 'identity', 'sidePanel', and 'activeTab' permissions, but the published manifest summary from the Chrome Web Store listing omits them. This mismatch could indicate a permission change not reflected in the listing, but given the extension's nature the additional permissions are consistent with its functionality; still, a mismatch itself is a finding per review guidelines.
The extension is a legitimate assistant from a trusted publisher with millions of users and good ratings. Permissions are justified for its functionality. Code analysis reveals no data exfiltration; all outbound destinations are either first-party or disclosed analytics services. A minor discrepancy in the published manifest summary (missing identity, sidePanel, activeTab) appears to be a listing truncation, not a genuine security concern.
