What our analysis found
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Live Wallpaper showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in October 2026.
Analyst notes
The extension is a straightforward new tab replacement providing a video wallpaper background, a Google search bar, and quick-access tile shortcuts — all consistent with its stated category (Art & Design). All five JS files contain only benign behavior: opens the publisher's own domain on install, submits search queries to [domain withheld], fetches a local JSON config and builds DOM tiles using safe assignments, and dynamically creates a video element. The only notable observation is that loads a video from the third-party CDN [domain withheld] (not the publisher's [domain withheld] domain) with no user data transmitted — it is a plain asset GET request. The bundled manifest declares zero permissions while the published manifest summary lists "search"; this minor mismatch is logged in rationale only since it is low-impact and the installed version has no elevated capabilities. Third-party score ( impact), Google-trusted publisher badge, and publisher malicious rate of 2% all corroborate a benign verdict; the ML score of 0.42 is fully explained by common benign patterns (appendChild, form elements, external resource load).
