Ad block & Adblocker - No Ads extension, used by 70,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can read and change data on all websites. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in September 2026.

Every one of the 8 JavaScript files is a genuine MV3 ad-blocker implementation: only toggles declarativeNetRequest rulesets and counts matched rules, /{content,element-to-block,y}.js do cosmetic element hiding and YouTube ad-skipping, and + implement the well-known open-source Twitch ad-skip technique whose only network destinations are [domain withheld] and [domain withheld] with Twitch's public web Client-ID 'kimne78kx3ncx6brgo4mv6wki5h1ko' ( line 2); the captured Twitch integrity token is passed by postMessage into the injected worker and never leaves the page. There is no telemetry sink at all — the only non-Twitch URLs in the whole bundle are noads.day pages (the publisher's own domain, matching the privacy-policy host), license comments, and the CWS reviews link, and the UUID written to storage.sync as 'userId' (:336) is never read by any request. Contradicting the malware label: no obfuscation, no access, no affiliate redirects (all 7 redirect actions found point at empty 'data:' script or silent-MP3 stand-ins and the modifyHeaders rules only append CSP restrictions), and grep for 'whatsapp' matches nothing, so the [domain withheld] WhatsApp-spamware provenance note does not apply to this code. Corroborating suspicion but not confirmed by code: the 48% malicious permhash cluster, and vestigial remote-config plumbing at:66-92 where a fetch(url, {credentials:'include'}) result would be installed as dynamic DNR rules — that path is unreachable in 1.9.8 because the loop iterates the keys of a hardcoded object ('success','rules') against a chrome.tabs.Tab, which never carries 'updateRules'/'rule_scope', and no remote endpoint string exists anywhere in the build. Confidence is medium rather than high because the bundle was trimmed to 15 of the extension's 73 rule JSONs (, and most of main/*.json are absent), and an unreviewed ruleset is where an affiliate-hijack redirect would hide.
