wcagc Accessibility Checks Chrome extension security report

Review accessibility issues in the page and UI state already open in Chrome. wcagc Accessibility Checks runs an on-demand automated check in the tab you choose. It is designed for pages that remote crawlers cannot easily reproduce, including localhost, staging environments, authenticated applications, and transient UI states such as an open dialog or expanded menu. WHAT YOU CAN DO - Choose the target context used to configure the automated rules: EAA, EN 301 549, ADA, Section 508, AODA, or a broad standards-oriented check. - Review violations, items that need human review, and passed-rule counts. - Select a finding to highlight the corresponding element on the page. The temporary, inert highlight is removed when you close the popup. - Use the Accessibility (wcagc) DevTools panel to inspect best-effort source hints. When the page does not expose a source hint, the extension says so instead of guessing. - Run the complete local-check flow without creating or connecting a wcagc account. LOCAL BY DEFAULT A check starts only after you choose Check this tab. The extension does not scan in the background, and running a local check does not upload the page or its results. All executable JavaScript, including the fixed-version checking engine, is bundled in the extension package. The extension does not download or evaluate remote code. It has no advertising or user-activity analytics. SAVE ONLY WHEN YOU CHOOSE Connecting a wcagc organization is optional. If you connect through the OAuth PKCE sign-in flow and explicitly choose Save to wcagc, the extension sends a bounded snapshot containing the page URL and title, selectors and markup fragments limited to 2,000 characters, optional relative source hints, and check metadata. You can choose an organization, optionally associate a site, and add a snapshot label. The saved data never includes screenshots, full-page HTML, cookies, request headers, form-field values, local-storage contents, other tabs, or browsing history. Authentication tokens are kept in memory-only extension session storage. Data is sent only to the wcagc API and is not sold or transferred to third-party analytics. AN HONEST RESULT BOUNDARY A local check is a browser snapshot affected by the current browser, viewport, installed extensions, and page state. Saved local checks remain identified as local checks and are excluded from trends, regression comparisons, verification workflows, CI verdicts, evidence packs, and client portal views. Automated checks cover only some accessibility requirements. Manual testing remains necessary. The result is not an accessibility audit, certification, proof of legal compliance, or guarantee of conformance. The extension does not provide an overlay, automatic remediation, or automatic fixes.
