Request your data export from the platform (Instagram, TikTok, or X). This is the official button they already give you, buried in settings. It takes them anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to email you a ZIP. 2. Drop that ZIP into UnplugMe. It reads the file to find every post you saved, liked, or favorited — thousands of them, in about a second. 3. Click download. UnplugMe fetches each photo and video and writes it to your hard drive. The export tells UnplugMe WHAT you saved. To get the actual media, the extension downloads it from the platform, in your browser, using the session you're already signed in with — the same way your browser loads the post when you look at it. WHAT IT DOESN'T DO Being straight with you, so nothing here surprises you: • It doesn't work without your data export ZIP. That's the file the platform gives you, and you have to request it first. UnplugMe can't skip that step — and wouldn't want to, because that export is what makes this your own data, retrieved with your own authorization. • It doesn't download other people's private accounts, DMs, or anything you never saved. • It doesn't post, follow, unfollow, like, delete, or change anything on your account. It only reads and saves. • It can't recover posts that the original creator has since deleted.
