uBlock Origin development build, used by 100,000 people, showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. Its permissions mean it can observe network requests. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in August 2026.
This is the official development build of uBlock Origin, a widely trusted content blocker. All permissions are necessary for its core function (blocking ads, trackers, malware). The source code shows no data collection or external communication beyond internal extension messaging. The many JavaScript libraries and heavy DOM manipulation are expected and not obfuscated for malicious purposes. The ML model's pattern matches (e.g., XMLHttpRequest, innerHTML) are artifacts of its large legitimate codebase.

This is the official development build of uBlock Origin. uBlock Origin is NOT an "ad blocker": it is a wide-spectrum blocker -- which happens to be able to function as a mere "ad blocker". The default behavior of uBlock Origin when newly installed is to block ads, trackers and malware sites -- through EasyList, EasyPrivacy, Peter Loweโs ad/tracking/malware servers, various lists of malware sites, and uBlock Origin's own filter lists. The stable version of uBlock Origin is at: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm Use this development build of uBlock Origin if you want to help test new fixes since last stable release version, and to help find regression bugs. Report regression bugs at uBlock Origin issue tracker: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues/issues "uBlock Origin Dev Build" does not share any settings with the stable release of "uBlock Origin", they are installed as two distinct extensions. If needed, use the backup/restore feature of uBlock Origin to transfer settings between the two extensions.
