What our analysis found
Trustnet showed no malicious code in Extension Auditor's review. It comes from a trusted publisher and was last updated in April 2025.
Analyst notes
The extension is an MIT CSAIL academic research tool for article accuracy assessment. All network traffic goes to `developer.trustnet.csail.mit.edu` (the publisher's own backend, per the MIT CSAIL Trustnet project) and the data sent — page URLs and assessment metadata — is explicitly disclosed under the CWS categories 'User activity' and 'Website content'. The ML score of 0.36 is driven entirely by bundle characteristics (large total_js_size_bytes, high innerHTML from Vue rendering, standard regenerator-runtime eval), not by malicious behavior. Third-party risk score assigns Likelihood:, corroborating the benign assessment; the only risk factor is the broad content-script injection, which is functionally required for an article-assessment overlay tool.

Allows you to assess different articles as (in)accurate to help your friends and to also see the assessments that they provide.
Read the publisher’s full description
This is a browser extension as part of a research project that allows you to assess different articles as accurate or inaccurate. Your assessments can help benefit those users who follow or trust you on https://trustnet.csail.mit.edu. You too can benefit from the assessments provided by your sources, since their assessments of any webpage you visit will be loaded on the page. In addition to providing accuracy assessments, you can also inquire about the accuracy of an article. Your inquiries can be anonymous or tied to your name and by default, will surface to those you have marked as trustworthy on Trustnet. Alternatively, you can specify who you would like to ask about the accuracy of the article. They will receive an email about your inquiry and can provide an answer to you.
